TO THE MOGOLLON RIM AND BACK
These pictures show samples of the landscape on a road trip to the Mogollon Rim that starts out eastbound on route 87 from the east valley, and picks up Route 260 eastbound at Payson which then takes you up on the Mogollon rim. From there, you continue eastbound on 260 to Show Low, where a right turn onto Route 60 south eventually takes you back down to the east valley. The entire trip is about 315 miles and takes about 7-8 hours, taking into account stops and the relatively slow trip south on 60 through the Salt River Canyon. This collection samples but does not really do full justice to the beauty and diversity of the landscape, since there are many beautiful stretches on this trip where there are no convenient safe places to pull over to take pictures.
